There’s so much goodness to talk about here, and not much bad. Razer’s ManO’War headset has 7.1 channel surround sound, 14 hours of battery and over 45ft of range.

When you first unbox it, you’ll find that’s it’s large, but compact if you should have to take it on the go. Inside the left ear cup the mic is housed, and easily slides in and out as you need it. Reaching under the left cup you’ll find a mic volume wheel to adjust your own voice volume on the fly for easy control. This also doubles as the Mute button by pressing it in, a red ring will light up around your mic to let you know you’re muted up.

Your USB dongle will be found inside the right ear cup and just a light push is all you need for it to click out. A volume control wheel will be found just below the dongle storage for easy control, and again just press it in to mute the sound going to your headset.

These wheel controls are fantastic, it gives you so much quick and easy control. Rotate the wheel toward the back of you to turn sound up, and in front to bring the volume down. Absolutely no time away from game play trying to adjust volume during pivotal moments.

  • 45 ft of Wireless range (w/ USB extender)
  • 7.1 Ch. Surround Sound
  • 14 hours of battery life

After about two weeks of usage the first issue showed up with the headset. Randomly during gameplay, about every 10-30 minutes, sound would cut out, beep at me, and then cut sound back in. Annoying to say the least. Charging to full capacity made no difference. I even plugging the micro USB cable from my computer to the headset. Finally I contacted Razer’s support, which is where I should’ve started considering how easy it was to resolve my issue. After about 10-15 minutes of diagnosing the support agent recommended a firmware update to the headset, and sure enough that beeping stopped and many months later it hasn’t returned.

When you get your headset I’ve got a quick tip for you to prolong your battery life by about 6 hours. Using Synapse 2.0 software, go ahead and disable the RGB lights. As cool as they are, when your headset is on your head, you’ll never see the lights illuminating the sides. By not having your Razer Chroma lights active, you can get 20 hours of battery life on a charge.

Inside Razer’s Synapse 2.0 software, you can calibrate surround sound, adjust audio and mic levels, switch lighting controls, and fine tune your equalizer to your preferences. You can download Synapse 2.0 here.
